Monday night we enjoyed a bonfire out at the Scouting area. The girls made s'mores and then signed the pillowcases they tie dyed last week. At the end of the activity we tried something new this summer (no pictures, :( sorry). We tried orienteering, which is were flags are hidden in an area and marked with a code. Then using a satellite map of the area the girls try to locate them - each flag was worth different point values. They worked in groups of about 4 and only had a certain amount of time to find what flags they could. In the end, the teams returned to our starting point where their points were added up (lost a point for every 30 seconds late). Next summer we'll work out the kinks, but the girls seemed to enjoy it. It was a great way for them to work together, communicate and be responsible.
